About

Heart Link (East Midlands Children's Heart Care Association) was founded in 1981 as a support organisation for parents and families who had a child with a heart condition.

We have also been more committed over time to enhancing facilities for our young patients and their families, as well as giving much-needed quality medical equipment.

Our goal has always been to do our utmost to deliver the best service possible.

All of our officials, committee members, and volunteers volunteer their time without compensation or reimbursement, and our administrative expenditures are kept to a minimum.

We have raised well over £6 million since 1981, thanks to the wonderful support and generosity of the general public. This has been used to fund both major and minor undertakings.

It is hard work but every penny raised is used, in some way, to benefit the children and their families.

Our Mission

Our Commitment

This fundraising and expenditure show the commitment of Heart Link and its supporters to do all they can for their members and the Children's Cardiac Surgery Unit, now at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

We also continue to support patients as they move into adulthood. They migrate to the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Clinic. This is a specific clinic for heart-problem children who are now adults. The ACHD clinic remains at Glenfield Hospital. Interestingly, there are now more ACHD patients than there are baby/child patients.

We would not be able to do all this without the help and support of our wonderful fundraisers.

It would not be possible without you

We are so grateful to everyone who has run marathons, climbed mountains, conducted coffee days, organised discos and balls, been sponsored to do nearly anything, sold raffle tickets, and much more over the years.
